Tailor Made Grass uses multiple backing systems depending on the application, but the biggest difference comes down to how water moves through the turf.
Traditional polyurethane-backed turf typically relies on punched drainage holes. Water only drains where those holes are located, which can create slower drainage, uneven flow, and potential issues in pet areas or heavy-rain applications.
Our Pinnacle backing systems are designed for better drainage performance. Instead of depending only on punched holes, Pinnacle Back and Pinnacle Flow allow water to move through the backing more efficiently and consistently.
Pinnacle Back is built for strong overall performance, durability, and drainage across landscape and general turf applications.
Pinnacle Flow is our highest-drainage backing option and is designed for areas where water movement matters most, including pet turf, playgrounds, and high-use installations.
Pinnacle Flow
Pinnacle Flow is built for maximum drainage performance. It is designed to move water through the turf quickly and consistently, making it ideal for pet areas, playgrounds, and installations where odor control, cleanup, and water flow are major concerns.
Pinnacle Back
Pinnacle Back offers a stronge drainage system while still maintaining excellent product stability and durability. It is a great option for landscape, commercial, and general-purpose turf where installers want dependable drainage without sacrificing strength.
Polyurethane
Traditional polyurethane backing usually relies on punched holes for drainage. This means water has to find those drainage points before it can pass through the turf. In heavy rain or pet applications, this can lead to slower drainage and less consistent flow.
Tuft Bind
Tuft bind measures how strongly the turf fibers are held in place by the backing system. The stronger the tuft bind, the better the turf resists fiber pullout, shedding, and long-term wear.
Traditional polyurethane-backed turf depends on the coating to lock the fibers into place. Over time, heavy use, moisture, heat, and installation stress can affect how well the fibers stay secured.
